There is no denying the craze is everywhere even in the little red dot city called Singapore. I am still on the fence as to whether join the craze or be one of the late believers (I know eventually I will give up fighting against my curiosity and join the fans, meanwhile let me enjoy what little ‘me’ time I have left for myself before the craze take control of my life completely and utterly…).
As I found out from my friends who couldn’t stop gushing about the cute little monsters they have caught, I asked them what benefits could they have catching the Pokémons in Singapore versus those residing overseas. If you are a fanatic fan of this AR game, you might want to start packing your bags for Singapore…
It’s a Small World Afterall
Singapore is sooooooo tiny. You’ll be able to catch all the monsters within a total land area of 719.1 km (277.6 sq mi). Yes, we are a tiny country. So imagine all the monsters within the tiny area, makes it easier to collect them all, doesn’t it?
Really Short Distance
The mainland of Singapore measures 50 kilometres (31 mi) from east to west and 27 kilometres (17 mi) from north to south with 193 kilometres (120 mi) of coastline. So without traffic jams, on a normal day, you probably can drive from east to west in about an hour or so. That’s driving from one end of the country to other!
Singapore has subway (MRT) covering in most of the major districts that you will want to go. In case of places that are not within coverage, we will have buses. So you really do not have to do much walking in order to capture some exotic monster in an exotic area.
Yes, our heat can kill! Walking under the sweltering heat can make you sweat a bucket hence be prepared to bring along a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated. But it definitely beats searching for that Pikachu in the winter, end of the night with the fierce wind howling and you wishing you are right in front of the fireplace, snuggling up to a cup of hot chocolate…
Unlike some of the hunter friends who lamented that they sometimes had to pack their lunches (and dinner, shocking!) when they go on a full day hunt, Singapore has food and toilets everywhere. There is a reason why it is labelled as Food Paradise by tourists.
Yes, we found a dead body by a Pokémon Hunter too… But Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world so you can be venturing out at 3am, hunting for your favourite monster, the chances are higher that you will catch what you wish for (either a cold or a monster) than to be rob at knife point. This is a country where kidnapping and drug offences may carry death penalty and a country too, well know for canning if you are caught vandalising.
